一齣寫給臺灣的身世寓言神話

不久的未來,海嘯吞沒了島嶼,倖存的女孩娜娜與玩偶咘咘在死寂的垃圾島上漂流,相依為命。路過的黑潮Kuro述說起古老的神話:這曾經是一座眾神眷顧,山谷平原錯落的豐饒島嶼,當時的黑潮Kuro與火山島贔屭相遇留情,贔屭領受神諭養育著天地靈氣所生的鯤與鯢,鯤與鯢一動一靜,如同鯨魚的半腦睡眠特性。直到遠方的鯨聲傳來召喚,鯤與鯢動念前往大海,深信神諭的贔屭決定放手一搏……
《鯨之嶋》以臺灣島的地理意象為劇本創作底蘊,融合科普知識的敘事策略,形塑出「屬於臺灣自有的山海經」寓言故事。拾念劇集、無獨有偶工作室劇團與編劇施如芳共同探索南北管與當代偶戲的無限可能,開創全新的說故事形式。

A mythic fable written for Taiwan’s own origins.

In the near future, a tsunami devours an island. The lone survivor, Nana, drifts across a deadly quiet garbage pile with her doll, Booboo. The passing spirit of the Kuroshio Current, tells them an ancient tale: once, this was a lush island blessed by the gods, its mountains and plains intertwined. Kuro met Bixi, the volcanic island deity, who received a divine oracle to raise Kun and Ni—twin beings born of the earth’s spiritual energy. Like whales whose two brain halves take turns resting, the sisters lived in perfect balance: one active, one still. But when a distant whale call stirred their longing for the sea, Bixi faced the shattering of her destiny and chose to let them go.
Inspired by Taiwan’s geological imagery, Whale Island blends myth with scientific imagination to craft a uniquely Taiwanese mythology. Over three years, artists from La Cie Maxmind and The Puppet & Its Double Theatre have explored new possibilities in Nanguan, Beiguan, and contemporary puppetry, forging a fresh approach to storytelling rooted in land and environment.
